What is Seated Acupressure Massage?

Seated Acupressure Massage is a short treatment given through a clients clothes in an ergonomically designed chair. The specific sequence of Seated Acupressure has been designed as an effective treatment to manage modern day stress, using the Ancient Wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
It is based on the Oriental Massage called Anma – which can be translated as “push-pull” or “press-rub”.
Acupressure is similar in principle to Acupuncture but without any needles. It aims to treat a person’s energy system, releasing blocked energy within the body.

Traditional Chinese Medicine believes that Chi or energy flows round the body in energy pathways called Meridians. Acupressure points are considered gateways on these Meridians. These energy pathways may become blocked by stress and our modern day lifestyles. Massaging and stimulating these points assists the flow of energy around the body.

Conditions Seated Acupressure May Help

  • Stress related muscle tension
  • Headaches/Migraine
  • Repetitive Strain Injury
  • Insomnia
  • Fatigue
  • Back, neck and Shoulder pain
  • Eye Strain

Seated Acupressure Bodywork sequence was specifically developed to successfully treat computer workers with these problems.

  • Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI)
  • Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS)
  • Back Pain

Which are often seen as occupational illnesses and injuries related to stress.

Stress can be caused by the pressures of work and modern day living and is one of the main causes of illness in the West.

Seated Acupressure promotes a sense of well being as the muscles relax, blood circulation is increased and nerve responses are stimulated. It improves quality of sleep and leads to an increase in energy levels, helping to manage the stresses of daily life.

Research has shown that just 20 minutes of this enjoyable and stress-relieving therapy can promote health and reduce sickness levels.

A Seated Acupressure Treatment

The treatment session takes 30 minutes including a short consultation.
The client sits on an extremely comfortable chair that has been specially designed to support the body. The treatment is given through the clients clothes and follows a specific sequence of pressure and massage techniques.

The therapist works on the acupressure points and meridians found on the back, shoulders, neck, head, arms and hands during a treatment session. These points are stimulated using thumb, finger, elbow and forearm pressure with the addition of gentle kneading, percussion, mobilization and stretching.
The result is a deeply relaxing therapy that leaves you feeling calm and energised.
